While on Your Journey to Become
Who You are Meant to Be....
I have been laboring for a few years now to find my full authentic voice. This journey has not been about finding a way to move from whispered tones to an elevated resonance. But rather I have been searching for the essence of how I share my strength of character with the world. Having been employed in a conventional setting since 1991 the voice I seem to be using now belongs to the culture by where I earn my living.
I recall when I stepped up the ladder into a leadership position my pattern of speech changed.
It is certainly easy to lean into the energy of the world- the vibe demands that we get busy. Which in turn has us lean into feeling overburdened, overwhelmed, exhausted and disconnected. Greetings at the water cooler usually reinforce this sentiment. Even if the mood goes unexpressed it is easy to see these emotions in the tired eyes heavy with worry.
Now with the countdown to our holiday’s, the gravity of adding more seems insurmountable.
Reaching for respite we flip on the television or open our computer only to be met with more unsolicited advice or warnings of impending doom.
When first learning of Hiro Boga’s premise that finding our personal sovereignty would create a more rich and full life it left me rumbling with this very dynamic word and its meaning. (https://hiroboga.com/blog/) Instead of connecting with it personally, I associated its meaning only with world governments. That is until it became clear that sovereignty was exactly what I have been striving for my entire life.
The book by Doreen Virtue “Don’t Dull Your Sparkle” talks about people being physically addicted to drama. I believed before I read the book that the people always gossiping and causing havoc were making a conscious choice. Now I am starting to see this might not be the case. Rather they are using gossip as a substitute to feel better or worthy, even if short lived.
Stepping back and looking at some of the people I thought were mean girls, or I labeled as unfeeling or cruel I now see the toxicity they offered the workplace was never about me personally. Rather their need to feel better using drama and gossip stories as their drug of choice.
I believe we all aspire to see the beauty more than the pain. I deserve -as all beings on this planet- to enjoy the gifts bestowed simply found in the fresh air.
All the people I meet and the others I never will…want to offer their love, come together in community and share in the juicy succulent bits of life.
----We all experience the same emotions, so why do we deny it....
